who we are
Founded by Co-Artistic Directors Kyle Slagell and Nicole Perez, Narrow Victory was created from a simple belief: great theatre should be both meaningful and sustainable. We love ambitious storytelling, but we also recognize that artists are people first. They have families, friends, careers, responsibilities, and, well, lives outside the rehearsal room. We believe those experiences should not be seen as obstacles to creating art. Instead, these are often the very things that make the art worth creating.
Narrow Victory Theatre Company is a Chicago-based theatre company dedicated to developing new work, building artistic community, and telling stories that find humor, heart, and meaning in everyday life.

Our work focuses on connection. Connection between artists and audiences. Between collaborators. Between strangers sharing a room for a few hours and discovering something familiar in someone else's story. We are especially passionate about developing new plays and creating opportunities for writers, actors, directors, and collaborators to explore work in progress. Through readings, workshops, development nights, and productions, we aim to create an environment where artists can take risks, experiment, and grow without losing sight of why they started creating in the first place.
As a company, we are drawn to stories that are funny, honest, and deeply human. Stories about families, friendships, love, grief, change, and all the small moments that quietly shape our lives. We believe some of the most powerful theatre doesn't come from spectacle. It comes from recognition. A laugh that feels earned. A moment that feels true. A story that reminds us we are not alone.

At Narrow Victory, we celebrate the little victories. The conversations that matter. The risks worth taking. The people who continue creating even when life feels packed.

Narrow Victory Theatre Company invites you to experience the magic of live theatre and still make it home in time for whatever comes next in your life.
