how we create

You're busy. You're tired. Girl, same.

Careers, families, commutes, life stuff... the calendar fills up fast. That doesn't mean you've stopped wanting to create. It just means finding the time, the people, and the space can be hard.

That's why we've built Narrow Victory the way we have. Instead of asking artists to fit into a rigid process, we've built one that fits into the rhythm of everyday life. Whether you're developing an idea, looking for a chance to perform, or simply hoping to spend time with people who love theatre, there's a place for you here.

Development Nights

Let's try some stuff.

Every production starts somewhere. Sometimes you're fortunate enough to have a polished and pristine script.  But other times, you're starting with ten pages, a single scene, or simply a cool idea that's been bouncing around in your head for years.

Development Nights are casual gatherings where writers bring new work, actors bring it to life, and everyone helps move the story one step forward. You'll hear your words out loud, discover what's working, figure out what isn't, and get thoughtful feedback from people who genuinely want to help.

No pressure. No expectation that anything is finished. No pretending you've got it all figured out.

Just artists getting together to try some stuff.

Because sometimes hearing your story in a room full of people is exactly what it needed.

Workshops

Let's work on some stuff.

Development Nights are to help you discover what's working. Workshops are to help you fix what isn't.

How do we make this scene stronger? Why isn't this character clicking? Is there a better way to tell this story? What happens if we try something completely different?

Every workshop is built around the needs of the artists in the room.  Playwrights can dive deep into their piece and rework it until it feels "right". Actors might explore new characters or tackle monologues they've been meaning to work on. Directors might experiment with different approaches to staging or storytelling. Every workshop is uniquely shaped by the people, the project, and whatever challenge they're trying to solve that day.

Whatever the need, that's where we'll start. Every project deserves the chance to become the best version of itself. We just want to give artists the time, space, and support to help make that happen.

Productions

Let's share some stuff.

Eventually, you've got to let the thing out into the world.

As fun as it is to rewrite that scene for the fifteenth time or spend another rehearsal debating whether someone should cross left instead of right... eventually you've got to put people in seats and see what happens.

That's what productions are for.

Some of the stories we produce will begin right here at Narrow Victory. Others won't. We care a lot less about where a story comes from than whether it's something worth gathering a room full of people to experience together.

We love intimate stories. Heart, humor, tragedy or somehow all three. We're eager to share strong writing, celebrate great ensembles and tell stories that trust the audience. We strive to produce the kinds of shows that make people laugh, think, cry (in a good way), or just leave feeling something they didn't when they walked in.

And because you've probably noticed by now... we're also pretty big on artists having lives.

We don't believe the best theatre comes from burnout.  Nor should it require neglecting your family, your career, your health, or everything else that makes you who you are. We think those experiences often make the art better. So we build productions that respect the people making them just as much as the audience watching them.

At the end of the day, we just want to get some people in a room and tell them a good story.
